Guiding Assumptions of Shodh Sadhana:

  • Notions, beliefs, ideas and practice in Education, Teacher Education and teacher development are numerous and diverse and sometimes even conflicting. The Centre believes that providing an intellectual space to debate and discuss this diversity by adopting an open, dialectical and critical approach to research and development will create an academic atmosphere of research and learning.
  • Research in education is necessary in order to provide a basis for educational planning & policy making. It is one of the main fields that should be embedded in higher education curriculum.
  • Educators, policy-makers and teachers can and will understand and appreciate the research-based approach in teacher education provided the right kind of learning environment is promoted.
  • Teachers are the single most important influence on the emotional, moral, aesthetic and intellectual qualities of education. School and college improvement is closely linked to teacher development and hence school based research & teacher research is extremely significant.
